the massive Sultan Ibrahim Building is Johor’s State
Secretariat building, and was once used as a fortress and
command center by the Japanese during WWII. This landmark
building combines colonial and Malay architecture with Saracenic

The Royal Abu Bakar Mosque is a majestically
grand building and an architectural wonder and was completed
in 1866. It was commissioned by His Royal Highness Sultan
Abu Bakar and is also known as the Grand Palace (Istana Besar
Johor). Built in the Renaissance style by local artisans under
the supervision of a European architect, the original furniture
of the palace was made in England and ordered by Sultan Abu
Bakar in 1866. The palace became the Royal Abu Bakar Museum
in 1982, but today, it is still used for state ceremonies
and official functions. Catch the many silverware, ornaments
as well as souvenirs by dignitaries at the museum. There are
also pictures of the royal family from the reign of Sultan

Sri Raja Kaliamman Temple, it is made of 300,000 pieces of
colored glasses. The temple is 88 years old and was recently
renovated at a cost of RM2 million. Inspired by a Buddhist
temple that had a piece of glasswork at its entrance in Bangkok,
temple president S. Sinathambhy expanded on the idea to build
a temple with colored glass. The glass temple is open from
6pm daily, and all day during public holidays and is approximately

Hutan Bandar is a public park that provides
the perfect setting at which to escape the urban jungle with

The Zone, approximately 37 minutes / 35km

complex in Malaysia. It has a hotel and convention center,
a floating restaurant with a popular nightclub and a five-level
shopping podium. This hopping paradise is strategically sited
on 17 acres of prime land at the end of Jalan Ibrahim Sultan
in Stulang, Johor Bahru which comprises of four level shopping
podiums, with 350,000 square feet of shopping area and a 503
room international class hotel above the shopping complex.
Ferry links to Singapore and Indonesia are available through
the nearby Johor Bahru International Ferry Terminal.
The JB Bazaar, which began its operation
on January 2010, was opened by Johor Bahru City Council to
enliven the city, which is located at Legaran Segget and along
Jalan Tan Hiok Nee. It is the venue for various business activities
like a night market, pasar karat, bazaar lambak and Luton
van. Deep down at the JB city center where pre-war shop lots
were erected, a group of youngsters are keen to showcase their
fabulous collections and cutting edge fashion sense every
month in the bazaar. Expect to buy something different from
the market, as its variety of clothes, spectacles, pants,
dresses, and hats sold by the young fashionistas can attest
to. About more than 370 traders operate their business at
the bazaar, which opens daily from 6pm to 2am and is approximately
only 36 minutes / 33km away from Le Grandeur Palm Resort Hotel.
The original Kluang Station coffee shop is
the canteen of the railway station. This station is actually
a major stop, meaning all trains, including express trains,
stop at this station, approximately 1 hour 20 minutes / 89km
away from Le Grandeur Palm Resort Johor. It now goes by the
name of "Kluang Station Rail Coffee". According
to the Kluang Station franchise website, it started operating
in 1938. It is now operated by the 3rd generation of the Lim
family. They are known for their toast, which they grill on
charcoal, and doesn't taste the same as those oven-toasted
toast, and they also use real butter and homemade kaya that
is made with the finest ingredients. Operating hours are from
7.00am to 12.00pm and 2.30pm to 6.00pm on Fridays to Wednesdays,
and they are closed on Thursdays.
Desaru is a scenic beach and resort area
located on the southeast of Johor, approximately 1 hour 35
minutes / 95 km away from Le Grandeur Palm Resort Johor, lined
with palm trees and casuarinas swaying in the wind. Aside
